In the beginning there was... wax! - After moving from London in 2012 to live a quieter life by the sea, we spent a few years focused on being parents and finding our rhythm. By 2015, the boys were young and full of energy, and we started picking up hobbies again.

We began doing car boot sales to clear old things and make a bit of extra cash. What started as decluttering became something we really enjoyed, so we began buying whole “car boot lots” from people who never got around to selling their own. One time we paid a fiver for a van full of stuff. Another time, an entire Luton van of clothes, boots, jewellery — enough to fill a storage unit.

Around the same time, we’d been making candles at home as a creative hobby. When we brought a few to the car boots, they were always the first to sell. That simple pattern — people picking the candles first — sparked the idea that maybe this could become something bigger. And that was the true beginning of Pick n Melt.
