The Brickworks Custom Candles. Recently we teamed up with one of Hampshires most fascinating museums. A museum like no other!

The Brickworks Museum in Swanwick, just off the M27 is one of the rare surviving relics of our industrial past. The museum houses an array of steam engines many which still work and often are fired up on event days.

We were contacted by the museum with the request to create a candle that smells like steam engines! A weird request for sure! But we managed to create a candle that oddly, smells like a steam engine and is pleasant at the same time!

Once we had managed to get the fragrance on point it was then time to focus on the glass. Over the last few years we have been developing our personalised candle glass range. We now have an in house laser ninja! And so it was only right that we designed a container as glorious as the fragrance to be hand poured inside.

After a few different draft ideas, we came up with the design we settled on. The final design was derived from an old photo of the Brickworks, formally the home of the Burseldon Brick Company. The angled lines at the bottom are actually the outline of a huge stack of bricks that were in front of the factory. The photo was taken around 80 years ago.

Old Penny Arcade

With an amazing history of brick and tile making and a plethora of exhibitions to enjoy. You can learn about the history of one of the most important manufacturing industries in the world (everyone needs a roof over their head!). There is also an extraordinary penny arcade! In the arcade you can change your money to old pennies to use in the machines. You really get a feel for what the families of the workers, at the Brickworks, would have maybe experienced on their holidays to Bournemouth Pier!
